The American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) are national, non-profit organizations which administer voluntary certification examinations for dispensing opticians and contact lens technicians. Our purposes are to identify qualified eyewear providers by examination, urge growth of optical skills with continuing education, and approve continuing education programs. The ABO/NCLE programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) as having met their standards for certifying agencies.
Checking the status of your ABO and/or NCLE certification(s) has just gotten easier. Now you can register to access your activity report online 24 hours hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Check your expiration date(s), fees due, courses taken (including the course level and number), credits earned or the credits needed to renew.
